When i have stacked items in my storage and i try put put an additional item (of the same type) in it out the stack in my pack and the single item in storage. I know they are the same items. It happened twice once with icy humps and the other time with stone summit adges. And yes i did try to combine them in my pack. Can someone please help? Thanks.

Some things don't stack OR if you already have a max stack (like 250 tanned hides or something), it won't let you stack more but will simply exchange the two.

for the badges it was like 12 and the icy humps it was 6.

Sometimes, after game updates, this happens. They're the same item type, just in a way different versions. I haven't had this happen to me in a while, so maybe they have been working on it. The game updates itself with new versions, so stuff like this is bound to happen.

It happens when they adjust the price of an item too. They let you keep the original price it was for the items youve already had. That way they wont piss off people when you collect a crafting material worth say 40 gold each (at merchant) and reduce it to 20 gold each.

Also if it is the same name, but coming from a higher level mob. So they are actually different although they have the same name. Northern Shiverpeaks and Southern Shiverpeak Summit Badges don't stack with each other.
